We’re sorry, but Windows 10 is not supported.

Last year, Microsoft announced that its latest release of Windows 11 would soon have official Apple Music and Apple TV apps, and now beta versions are finally available. Apple removed iTunes for Mac in 2019, but it’s still the only option for Windows, just not for long.

It only took four years, but it looks like Apple is finally ready to introduce the official Apple Music and Apple TV apps for Windows 11. And remember, this is only for the latest version and does not include support for Windows 10.

Users can today download the official apps (but in beta version) of Apple Music and Apple TV from the Microsoft store, although not all is good news.

Unfortunately, although these apps are finally available to users as a beta version, Apple Insider quickly realized that the apps are lacking in features and somewhat basic. The Microsoft Store listing even says so and displays this notice:

“This is a preview version of Apple Music and not all features may work as expected. After installing Apple Music Preview, iTunes will no longer open and audiobooks or podcasts will not be accessible on this device until a compatible version of iTunes is released.”

Also, the Apple TV+ app doesn’t support Dolby Vision, Atmos or HDR10+, at least not yet, but you’ll be able to enjoy regular 4K HDR content. PC users may notice that some other features are missing from any of the apps, but we assume they will receive updates and additional options soon.

Until now, users had to rely on the old and outdated iTunes program, and worse, Apple TV+ was only accessible through a web browser. Now, you’ll have dedicated apps that work better with Windows 11, provide an improved experience, and get better over time. As a reminder, these are in beta so some users may benefit from waiting for the official release.
