Maybe you host events for your boss or supervisor. Or maybe you created an event that you can no longer attend. You can transfer ownership of a Google Calendar event to another person and make them the organizer.

Change the owner of an event

Visit Google Calendar on the web and select the event you want to edit. You can make the change in the popup window or on the event details page.

In the event popup, click on the three dots at the top right to see the Options. Choose “Change Owner”.

Then enter the name or email address of the new owner and choose the person from the suggestions. The person you select does not have to be a current attendee of the event.

You can use the default message, edit it, or enter your own. Click “Change Owner” when you’re done.

Note: If you change the organizer of a repeating event, this will affect all future events. At the time of this writing, you cannot transfer ownership of a single event in a series.

The new owner will receive an email with your message and a link to accept this change and make them the meeting host.

You will be taken directly to the event in Google Calendar and you will see a short message at the bottom indicating that you are the new owner of the meeting. From there, the event appears and works as if you had created it yourself.
