Change iPhone Passcode

To begin the passcode update process, launch Settings on your iPhone.

In Settings, select “Touch ID & Passcode” or “Face ID & Passcode” (depending on your iPhone model).

Select "Touch ID and password".

Enter your current iPhone passcode to continue.

Write the current access code.

Scroll down the page that opens and tap “Change Passcode”.

Select "Change access code".

On the “Change Passcode” page, enter your current passcode.

Enter the above access code.

When the message “Enter your new access code” appears, type in the new access code you want to use. If you want to use a different type of passcode, tap “Passcode Options.”

Type in the new access code.

If you chose “Passcode Options”, select one of three types:

  • Custom alphanumeric code: Choose this option to set a passcode that contains letters and numbers.
  • Custom numeric code: Select this option to set a passcode that only contains numbers. Letters are not allowed.
  • 4-digit numeric code: This option allows you to set a four-digit numeric access code.

Select a password type.

On the “Verify your new access code” page, enter your new access code one more time.

Re-enter the new access code.

And that is. Your passcode has been successfully changed on your iPhone. You will now use this new code every time you want to unlock your iPhone. Enjoy!

While you’re at it, you may want to customize when your iPhone automatically locks itself or have your iPhone wipe all your data after multiple failed password attempts. Check out our guides to learn how to use these features.
