If you want to encourage more participation in your Google Meet calls, consider allowing participants to answer anonymously. You can do this for question and answer sessions and polls.
You may be hosting a Google Meetup with a large number of participants, a public meeting, or a call across your company’s various regions. By allowing anonymity, attendees can feel more empowered to participate by asking questions and taking surveys.
Note: As of August 2022, Google advises that you need one of these Google Workspace accounts to use the feature: Essentials, Business Standard or Plus, Enterprise Starter, Essentials, Standard or Plus, Teaching and Learning Upgrade, Education Plus, Nonprofits or on account inherited from G Suite Business. Google Individual Workspace subscribers can also use the anonymous feature for surveys.
Allow anonymous answers for questions
When you set up a Q&A session on Google Meet, you can choose to allow anonymity.
Select the Activities icon at the bottom right and select “Questions and Answers.”
Choose “Enable questions and answers” to start allowing questions.
Then click the gear icon at the top right to see the settings. Turn on the toggle for Allow anonymous questions (Q&A). Use the X in the top right to exit settings and return to your meeting.
You can disable the anonymous response setting after starting the Q&A session if you wish. Just go back to the same area in the Activities and turn the toggle off. Please note that any anonymous questions asked before the option is turned off remain unnamed in the meeting and question report.

Allow anonymous responses for surveys
If you want to take a poll on Google Meet, you can easily allow responses without names. Unlike Q&A, this is all-encompassing. Once you enable anonymous responses for surveys, all responses submitted will be anonymous.
Select the Activities icon at the bottom right.
Select “Surveys” and choose “Start a Survey” to set up your question and answer options.
Activate the option so that the answers appear without names.
Then continue by starting or saving your survey as you normally would. You cannot disable the anonymous response setting after you start the survey.
How participants respond anonymously
It’s easy for participants to ask questions and answer surveys anonymously. Before submitting your question, simply check the Post Anonymously for Questions box. As mentioned above, all survey responses are automatically anonymous with the feature enabled.

Anonymous Responses in Question Reports and Surveys
If you ran a Q&A session or took a poll on Google Meet, you’re probably familiar with the reports you receive about responses after the meeting ends.
For any questions that are asked, you will see Anonymous for the name in the Questions report.
For surveys, you simply won’t see a field for names in the survey results report.
Sometimes it can be difficult to get people to participate in a meeting. For your next Google Meet where you don’t need participant names, consider allowing anonymous questions and survey responses.
