When you think of mechanical keyboards, the image that pops into most people’s minds is of a thick keyboard with tall-profile keys. However, this new mechanical keyboard from Corsair goes exactly against that opinion.

Corsair just released its K100 Air Wireless mechanical keyboard, but if we didn’t tell you it’s mechanical, you probably wouldn’t be able to guess. That’s because this new keyboard uses Cherry MX Ultra Low Profile switches, which are just 3.5mm in height compared to regular 18.5mm Cherry switches. This makes them more like the scissor keys on a laptop than a regular mechanical keyboard.

Ultra Low Profile switches are used by a handful of mechanical keyboards like Alienware to get that mechanical feel while still maintaining their slim profile. They haven’t been used much on real desktop keyboards. These switches allow Corsair to make the K100 Air Wireless keyboard just 11mm thick at its thinnest point and 17mm thick at its thickest point, making the entire keyboard thinner than a regular Cherry MX switch. .

It’s not cheap, it’s $280. But if you can afford it, you can have a very slim, but still, high-quality keyboard that’s also equipped with RGB lighting, an 8000 Hz polling rate over USB (and 2000 Hz wirelessly) and up to 50 hours of battery life with RGB lighting on (and 200 hours when it’s off).
