Porsche’s new soundbar is made from a 992 GT3 exhaust system

And I’m not sure if it’s cool or ugly.

There is something strange here; Porsche’s new soundbar is made from an original exhaust system from the 922 GT3. And even though it looks like it came out of a junkyard, the 911 Soundbar 2.0 Pro costs $12,000 and is surprisingly feature-rich.

The 911 Soundbar 2.0 Pro features support for Dolby Atmos and virtual surround sound software 2.1.2. It pumps out 300-watt sound, connects to TVs via 4K-compatible HDMI ARC ports, and offers wireless connectivity options like Bluetooth 5.0, AirPlay 2, and Chromecast.

Of course, the soundbar’s selling point is its outrageous design. I’m not sure this design will appeal to anyone but the biggest car nerds as, again, it looks like a piece of junk. (Usually you can’t see the full exhaust system of the Porsche 992 GT3, except for the tailpipes. That’s why the tailpipes are the only part of this speaker with a nice bronze finish.)

Porsche describes the 911 Soundbar 2.0 Pro as a “limited edition” item, probably because it’s niche and uses a genuine exhaust system. That said, it is technically a sequel to the original 911 soundbar, using a similar design. (Interestingly, you can pair multiple Porsche soundbars together.)

You can buy the 911 Soundbar 2.0 Pro today for $12,000. Just keep in mind that similar speakers (without auto exhaust system) cost much less.
