Facebook displays subtitles on your videos to help you follow the content, but if you don’t need them, they can be annoying. This is how you can disable subtitles on Facebook videos on desktop, iPhone, and iPad.
Keep in mind that Facebook doesn’t sync your closed caption settings across all your devices, which means if you turn off closed captions on your desktop, your phone will still show them, and vice versa. You will have to turn them off individually on each of your devices.
Also note that the Facebook Android app can’t display closed captions, so you won’t have to do anything to turn them off if you’re using an Android device.

Disable Facebook video subtitles on desktop
To disable captions on your desktop, first, launch your preferred web browser on your computer and open Facebook. Sign in to your account if you haven’t already.
After logging in, on the left sidebar of Facebook, click on your profile icon and choose “Settings and Privacy”.
In the “Settings and privacy” menu, select “Settings”.
On the “Settings” page, on the left sidebar, select “Videos.”
You will arrive at a “Video Settings” page. Here, next to “Always show subtitles”, click the dropdown menu and choose “Off”.
Facebook will automatically save your settings and your subtitles are now disabled.

Hide Facebook Video Subtitles on iPhone and iPad
To turn off captions for Facebook videos on your iPhone or iPad, you’ll use an option in your phone or tablet’s Settings app. This means the change will affect not only Facebook but also other apps that display closed captions on your device, so make sure you’re comfortable with that before proceeding.
To get started, launch the Settings app on your phone. Then choose the “General” option.
On the “General” screen, select “Accessibility.”
On the “Accessibility” page, scroll down and select “Subtitles and Closed Captions.”
Turn off the “Closed Captions + SDH” option.
And that’s it. Subtitles for your Facebook videos are now disabled on your iPhone or iPad.
Thus, you can also disable Chrome’s automatic live subtitles if you don’t find them useful.
