Structure

If you’re looking at Framework’s repairable, modular laptops, now is the time to take the plunge. Framework just opened orders for refurbished laptops and expansion cards, which could save you hundreds on your purchase.

Every refurbished laptop offered by Framework is a customer return. Framework tests these laptops, replaces any damaged components, and cleans up any dust or debris. Minor cosmetic blemishes are expected, as with any refurbished item.

Now, to be clear, Framework is selling refurbished DIY edition kits, which include a chassis, screen, keyboard, and Intel Core CPU (11th or 12th generation). You still need to purchase the memory, storage, Wi-Fi module, power adapter, Windows license, and modular expansion cards (USB-C, HDMI, etc.).

The cheapest refurbished laptop offered by Framework is the 11th Gen Intel Core DIY Edition Kit. It costs $600, which is $150 less than what you would normally pay for this item. But I suggest buying the refurbished 12th Gen Intel Core DIY Edition, which saves you $200.

As for the refurbished expansion cards, Framework doesn’t sell them individually. Instead, it sells a four-pack for $29 with two USB-C cards, one USB-A card, and one HDMI card. That’s $27 less than you’d pay for these new components.
