Google Chrome is arguably one of the best web browsers for most people, but it’s no secret that the browser drains battery life and resources, especially on Macs. Fortunately, Google recently announced some significant changes. behind the scenes to ensure Chrome browser doesn’t drain your MacBook’s battery.

In a blog post last week, Google confirmed that its new memory and power saving modes would maximize Mac performance and battery life with newer and older Apple silicon devices. More importantly, the latest version 110 of Google Chrome with all the changes will be released this week for the users.

According to Google, the new M2-powered Macbook Pro running macOS Ventura and Google’s new Chrome browser can browse the web for nearly 17 hours on a single charge. Furthermore, it claims that users can watch YouTube videos for almost 18 hours thanks to all of Chrome’s performance and battery improvements.

However, Google didn’t share details about how important these improvements are for older MacBook devices with the M1 or Intel chipsets, but it’s likely they’ll still give users a boost in performance.

For example, when your laptop battery is below 20%, Google Chrome automatically starts consuming battery life by limiting visual effects, animations, and slow background activity. Then the new memory saving mode will free up RAM, so new tabs will run faster.

Again, all these changes are rolling out now with the latest Google Chrome version 110 update. So make sure you have the latest version and enjoy the benefits.
