The ability to “Undo” the last thing you typed is something we take for granted on PCs. The iPhone also has a handy undo gesture, and if you’re using a Samsung Galaxy phone, it does too.
Samsung Galaxy devices include an undo feature along with the Samsung keyboard. In this context, “Undo” will delete the last words you typed, not individual characters. The only drawback is that you cannot use swipe typing if you enable this feature.
First, we’ll need to set Samsung Keyboard as your default keyboard app, if it isn’t already.

Then swipe down from the top of the screen to reveal the Quick Settings tiles. Tap the gear icon to open Settings.
Then go to “General Administration”.
Now tap on “Samsung Keyboard Settings”.
Scroll down and go to “Swipe, tap and comment”.
Select “Keyboard Sliders”.
It will most likely be set to “Slide to type” by default. We want to change it to “Cursor Control”.
There are a number of things that “Cursor Control” allows, one of which is undo and redo gestures. Is that how it works:
- Undo: Swipe from right to left across the keyboard with two fingers.
- Redo: Swipe from left to right across the keyboard with two fingers.
- move cursor: Slide one finger horizontally across the keyboard.
- choose text: Hold down the Shift key with one finger, and slide another finger horizontally across the keyboard.
That’s it! Now you can undo and redo to your heart’s content. If you type a lot on your phone, this is a very useful feature. Moving the cursor and selecting text easily are additional features. Make sure your keyboard is exactly how you like it.
