To update TikTok on an iPhone or iPad, launch the App Store, go to the “Updates” tab, and select “Update” next to TikTok. On Android, open the Google Play Store, search for TikTok, and tap “Update” next to the app.

Updating TikTok allows you to fix various bugs and possibly get new features in the app. While your iPhone, iPad, or Android phone automatically updates all apps by default, you can still force an update to make sure you get the latest version of TikTok. We’ll show you how to do just that.

Why should you update TikTok?

When you update TikTok (or any other app), you get various bug fixes that fix the issues in the existing app version. That’s why most solutions to a glitch ask you to update your apps.

Another reason to update TikTok is that you can possibly get new features. When the platform rolls out new features, you can add them to your app by updating it.

Updating the app also improves your overall experience, as the newer version of the app often has efficient code, which improves the app’s various processes. Updating any app is a good idea in general to stay safe online.

What if I can’t update TikTok?

If your phone or tablet doesn’t update TikTok, it’s possible that your device has a minor glitch, your internet connection isn’t working, or your phone doesn’t have enough storage space for the update.

You can fix most minor glitches on your phone simply by restarting the phone, which is easy to do on both iPhone and Android. Then you can try to update the app again.

If your Wi-Fi connection isn’t working, switch to mobile data and try updating the app (although be careful, it will consume data). Similarly, if you have mobile data, switch to Wi-Fi and update the app. Restarting your router and modem and disabling your VPN can also fix download issues.

If you think low storage space is holding you back from updating, make room for the TikTok update by uninstalling unwanted apps, deleting photos and videos, and deleting other files on your iPhone, iPad, and Android device. TikTok will then update without any problem.

And this is how it brings TikTok to its latest version, so you can enjoy the latest and greatest features while minimizing app bugs.
