Paramount+ is the streaming service owned by the newly merged CBS and Paramount, with a sizeable library of new and classic movies and TV shows. The service is now back with its best offer: a year of service at 50% off.

This offer appeared in October and Paramount+ brought it back for the holiday season, but this time without a free Fire TV Stick. New and previous subscribers (but not Current subscribers) can get the “Essentials” plan for $24.99 for the first year, which includes all the usual streaming content, NFL on CBS live, soccer content like the Champions League, live CBS news channels, and some advertisements. The Premium plan with more live sports, (mostly) no ads, and a download feature is $49.99 instead of $99.99.

The only drawback is that the subscription is automatically renewed and the low price is only for the first year. If you don’t want to be charged full price later, set a reminder to cancel before then, ideally via Siri, the Google Assistant, or another cloud-based service you know you’ll still have installed a year from now.

The Paramount+ library has CBS daytime TV dramas, kids’ shows and movies from Nickelodeon, Paramount movies (transformers, the addams family, Top Gun: Maverick as of 12/22 and beyond), exclusive content and some licensed movies and shows. It is also the streaming home of all star trek shows and movies, as Paramount has pulled most of Trek’s content from other platforms.
