Fortunately, Google recently announced some helpful map updates just in time for the holidays, and one will help you find the fastest compatible charger for your electric vehicle.
The latest update to Google Maps adds some exciting tools for users across the board. Some of them include enhanced live views for pedestrian and wheelchair accessible areas, stair-free locations, and much more.
However, we are also excited about the new feature for those who own an electric vehicle. Now, you can easily search, find and filter search results and quickly charge your electric car. When looking for a charging station, you’ll notice several options to tailor the experience to your vehicle.
For example, Google Maps will allow you to filter slow chargers and then guide you to nearby fast charging stations. Or, more importantly, owners can filter the charging station results by compatible plugs and ports. So if you need a fast charger with a CCS port, Google has you covered.
Google Maps will then only show compatible charging stations on the map for you to choose from and get directions to. These can be easily accessed with buttons at the top, rather than requiring users to look in the “more filters” tab while on the go.
According to the blog post, this new Google Maps feature for electric cars is available worldwide on both iOS and Android. So give it a try during your next vacation trips.
