Everyone knows the pain of carrying too many wireless devices. From your smartphone to your headphones and everything in between, it can become too much. But now it looks like Huawei is looking to free up some space in its pockets with a smartwatch that doubles as a case for its headphones.
Images posted on Weibo show the new smartwatch, dubbed the “Huawei Watch Buds,” with the watch face open, revealing a container for wireless headphones. A hands-on video posted to YouTube shows the watch in action, with a person opening the watch, removing the headphones inside, then putting them back on and closing the watch.
android authority reports that the Watch Buds have a similar design to the Huawei Watch 3 and run Harmony OS.
It’s an interesting concept that could change the way headphones are marketed in China. There seem to be charging notches in the headphone slots, so the watch could keep your headphones charged and give them a place to live that isn’t in your pocket.
Huawei has confirmed a December 2 release date for the device in China, but there is no word yet on when the Huawei Watch Buds will be available outside of Asia.
