Netflix’s “Basic with Ads” plan shows 4-5 minutes of ads every hour. Ads can be 15 or 30 seconds long and appear before and during shows and movies.
Netflix is largely responsible for the ad-free monthly subscription streaming model that has become so popular. However, Netflix now has a “Basic with Ads” plan that includes ads for a lower price. But how many ads are there?
The “Basic with Ads” plan was announced in October 2022. It is priced at just $6.99 per month, which is $3 less than the previously cheaper “Basic” plan. Fortunately, we don’t have to guess how many ads you’ll have to watch. Here are the details:
- Netflix says there will be an “average 4 to 5 minutes of ads per hour.”
- The ads are 15 or 30 seconds long.
- Ads may appear “before and during shows and movies.”
Beyond the ads, the plan comes with a few other caveats. Some movies and TV shows will not be available with this plan due to licensing restrictions. The Basic plan with ads also does not allow you to download content for offline viewing.
Four to five minutes of commercials is certainly much less than cable television. If you’re a Netflix user who doesn’t watch much, it might be worth watching those ads to save some money. Despite the heavy competition, Netflix still has one of the largest libraries of quality content among streaming services.
