On the GNOME desktop, click on the panel displayed in the upper right corner of your screen. Then click the “Shutdown/Sign Out” button followed by “Restart”.
A dialog box will appear asking you to wait 60 seconds for an automatic reboot or reboot now by pressing “Reboot”.
To use the command line method, open Terminal and type the following command. Then press Enter:
sudo shutdown -r now
Your computer will restart.

How to restart a Chromebook
In ChromeOS, you don’t have an option that automatically restarts your Chromebook. Instead, you turn off your machine and then turn it back on manually.
One way to do this is to press and hold the power button located in the upper right corner of your keyboard or on the side of the device. This shuts down your machine. Then press the same Power button to turn on the machine.

Another way to restart your Chromebook is to click the clock icon in the bottom right corner of the screen and choose the “Power” icon. This will shut down your machine. To turn it back on, press the power button.
You can also factory reset your Chromebook if you want.
And this is how you give your computer a reboot based on one of the popular operating systems available out there. Enjoy!
