Optional: Steam game save data backup

Before you get rid of a game, keep in mind that you will lose all of your game save data. If you don’t want this to happen, back up your game progress first. You can manually back up to a physical hard drive or let Steam save it to the Steam Cloud. You can later resume your game sessions if you decide to reinstall the game. We’ll cover the cloud backup method here, but you can follow our manual backup guide if you prefer.

To back up your save game data to the cloud, first launch Steam and open “Library”. Next, right-click on the game whose progress you want to save and select “Properties.”

Select "Properties" on the menu.

On the “General” screen, enable the option “Save game saves to Steam Cloud for [Your Game Name]”Option.

turn on "Save game saves to Steam Cloud for [Your Game Name]. "

That is all. Steam will now automatically back up selected game progress to your Steam account in the cloud. You are all set and ready to uninstall it using whatever method you prefer.

Use Steam to uninstall a game

A quick way to remove a game is to use the Steam app itself. Basically, you locate your game in your library and then choose an option to remove it. That is how.

Launch the Steam app on your computer and sign in to your account if you haven’t already. Learn what to do if you forgot your Steam password.

In the top bar of Steam, select “Library” to view your games.

Select "Library" on top.

On the “Library” screen, in the left sidebar, find the game you want to delete. Then right-click on this game and choose Manage > Uninstall.

On the Settings screen, select “Applications”.

choose "Applications" in Settings.

On the app page, find the game you want to remove. Then click on the game and select “Uninstall”.

Choose “Uninstall” at the prompt. Then select “Yes” at the “User Account Control” message.
