LEGO

To celebrate 90 years of LEGO, your favorite brick-building company has released some iconic themed sets that are bigger than ever. We’re talking about a remake of the original 1979 Galaxy Explorer spaceship and a massive 4,514-piece medieval castle.

The two new LEGO sets go straight for nostalgia and offer designs that fans will love. They are part of the popular line of LEGO Icons and are sure to be a hit on your LEGO shelf. First there is the new version of Galaxy Explorer, then we will share some details about the Castle of the Lion Knights.

The former is a fan favorite and of course we are talking about the Galaxy Explorer spaceship. The iconic Galaxy Explorer set from 1979 is back and bigger than ever. In fact, it’s nearly twice the size of the original, at 20.5 inches long, 12.5″ wide, and about 5″ tall. I don’t know about you, but that’s the perfect size for my display case.

Unsurprisingly, the new LEGO Galaxy Explorer comes with four astronaut minifigures, the 4-wheeled helper rover, and all sorts of other nostalgic pieces. Each astronaut can fit inside the cabin of the spaceship, or you can take one to the back and find a tool compartment at the rear of the ship.

While there are four seats for the four astronauts, you’ll also find rooms with two beds, a computer, storage bins, and more for the entire crew. Obviously, they will need to sleep while they wander through space. The ship sits on three retractable landing legs and, like most LEGO sets of recent times, has opening doors, a rear hatch, a retractable ramp for the rover and more.

The bigger, better, nostalgic Galaxy Explorer is 1,246 bricks and should make any fan happy when it hits shelves for $99 starting August 1. Get yours from the following link.

LEGO Lion Knights Castle

As any LEGO fan knows, castle builds are some of the best and most satisfying. Unfortunately, LEGO hasn’t released a fantastic castle in a long time, but that’s about to change. The new LEGO Lion Knights Castle features 4,514 pieces and combines various themes of the castle we all loved from days gone by.

Not only will you spend hours creating this giant castle inspired by buildings of yesteryear, but you will also be able to enjoy 22 minifigures. We are talking about a king, a queen, a wizard, archers, castle dwellers and a whole group of minifigures to place around the castle, just like in the city market.

As you build this epic castle, you’ll notice all sorts of secret hideouts for the forest folk, dungeons for the town drunks, and special passageways behind trapdoors just like any good medieval castle. We also liked that LEGO made the castle’s drawbridge, portcullis, mill waterwheels and more moveable.

So, raise that drawbridge, let the horses and the Ox in, and post archers on all the pillars to keep everyone safe. This intricate new castle measures over 14-inches high, 17-inches wide and 12-inches deep when closed, and it’s even bigger once you open everything up.

The new LEGO Lion Knights’ Castle will be available starting August 8 for $399 from the link below.
