Several members of the Xbox Insider testing program have noticed significantly faster boot times on Xbox Series X and S, and now, a Microsoft employee has confirmed the change. The company cut the startup time by more than half, allowing players to get into the action faster than ever before.
first seen by the edgeMicrosoft’s two most popular game consoles can boot completely from scratch in less than five seconds, thanks to a shorter boot animation.
Typically, an Xbox Series S or S will need around 10 seconds to complete the boot process and open the dashboard. Now, it will be ready in less than half that time.
I can confirm – worked with @harrisonhoffman Y @jakerose27 to create a shorter startup animation (~4s) from the original startup animation (~9s), which helps reduce the overall startup time.

Unfortunately, this feature is currently only available to members of the Insider testing program, but it will be rolling out to all users soon. It’s worth noting that if you own an Xbox that uses the faster “Standby Mode” to boot up, you won’t experience any changes. Only users with consoles set to power saving mode, where the console turns off completely, will notice the difference.
For those who don’t know, Power Save mode uses around 20 times less power than Standby mode and is actually the default mode on newer consoles. So unless you switch your console to standby mode, you will experience this sooner rather than later.
While this is nothing major, it’s good to see Microsoft continuing to make changes and improvements to its gaming console. Get a new Xbox from the link below if you haven’t gotten one yet.
