Waze is falling behind on Android Auto and CarPlay, it’s not just you

Waze is one of the best navigation apps available, which is why I recently ditched Google Maps for Waze. However, lately, we have seen many reports that Waze is lagging behind and is almost unusable in both Android Auto and CarPlay.

While it works great for me, others aren’t as lucky. In fact, there are so many reports of Waze delays on the Google forum that it is now a trending issue. Also, we have seen similar comments on the official Waze forum over the last month.

Users mention that Waze starts to become slow, unresponsive or lags in both CarPlay and Android Auto. This happens whether navigation is active or not, and even seems to be affecting the CarPlay software. Basically, the Waze app starts to lag so long that none of the other on-screen controls work until the user closes Waze completely.

No fix or fix has been discovered, and the latest app update doesn’t fix things either. Owners can try uninstalling and reinstalling Waze, but if it’s a software issue, it won’t help either.

However, there is some good news. One of Google’s product experts on the official forum is aware of the issue and submitted an internal bug report to Waze developers. We’re hoping it will be fixed soon, but the rep didn’t share a potential timeline.
