Hulu isn’t the all-encompassing movie and TV streaming service, but it still has a massive library of FOX, ABC, and Disney, as well as its own original content. Now you can get the service for a year for just $1.99 per month.
Hulu has two main subscriptions: a cheaper plan with ads for $7.99 a month (or $79.99 a year) or a plan without ads (and the addition of offline downloads) for $14.99 a month. For Black Friday, Hulu is offering the cheapest plan at 75% off, so it’s just $1.99/mo for a year.
However, there are some pitfalls. The offer is only available to “eligible new returning subscribers”: if you’re currently signed up for Hulu, or signed up at some point in the past month, the offer won’t work. The subscription will also automatically renew at the regular monthly price after one year, so be sure to set a reminder or calendar event to cancel.
The current deal also stacks with another promotion Hulu has been offering for a while, where you can add ad-free Disney+ for another $2.99 per month. If you’re eligible for the current Hulu discount, that would get you Hulu with ads and Disney+ ad-free for a total of $5 per month for the next year. That option will go away on December 8, 2022, when it will be replaced by Disney+ with ads for $2/mo, but anyone who buys it before then will keep it.
Hulu used to be a mixed bag for most movies and TV shows that weren’t available through Netflix, but after Paramount/CBS and NBCUniversal started their own streaming services (Paramount+ and Peacock, respectively), no there is so much third party content. However, Hulu still has some licensed movies and TV shows, as well as pretty much everything under Fox, ABC, and FX. Disney has also been building on Hulu’s original content, with shows like The Handmaid’s Tale, Only murders in the buildingY solar opposites.
