There are more options than ever for a great Linux laptop, especially from companies like System76 and the Framework. Now the Kubuntu Focus team wants to release the ultimate Linux laptop, with the new 2nd generation Focus XE laptop.
The Kubuntu Focus XE Gen 2 laptop has arrived, promising to deliver the best Linux experience out of the box for users who don’t necessarily need what a dedicated GPU has to offer. By getting rid of things like a dedicated GPU, the Kubuntu Focus team said it can sell a fairly affordable all-in-one package. We wouldn’t exactly call it affordable at $895, but at least its specs make up for that.
For starters, it’s powered by an Intel Core i7-1260P. We would have loved to see a 13th generation Intel processor, especially seeing as we are heading into the second quarter of the year and there are many options available with newer and faster silicon. However, the 12th generation will still be fine for most people. It also supports up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM, Thunderbolt 4, and up to 2TB of high-speed NVMe storage.
